Arsenal's Hector Bellerin challenges Usain Bolt to a race after the Rio Olympics

Usain Bolt has a challenge after the Rio Olympics

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has challenged world record holder Usain Bolt – and a PUMA 'speed bot' – to a race after the Rio Olympics this year. The 21-year-old PFA Team of the Year defender took to Twitter to challenge the 29-year-old Jamaican to a sprint following a series of proposed showdowns over the past few months.

The link between the two sprinters first came into the spotlight after Arsenal announced that Hector Bellerin had broken the 40m sprint record at the club previously held by Theo Walcott and maestro Thierry Henry.

With the timings out in public, it was natural for people to compare Bellerin to the 'world's fastest man' Usain Bolt and it showed that the 21-year-old is actually faster than the Olympic gold medallist in the 40m sprint.

While this may come as a shock to many, Bolt addressed this issue in a Q & A session last month confirming that while Bellerin was faster in the 40m sprint, the Jamaican would beat him in the full 100m. Footballers as such have faster acceleration off the line with the top speed not as fine as full-time sprinters.

Bellerin, however, is not giving up so easily challenging the Jamaican on Twitter.

PUMA responded by cheekily inviting him to Jamaica.

Bellerin then responded by subtly implying that he'd race but with a certain someone.

In comes the big man but once again, keeping his name off of it.

Bellerin goes all 'Challenge accepted'
