Arsene Wenger always goes to director’s box before a game
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp, has revealed that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, always keeps himself up to date with the happenings in the boardroom at the Emirates. In his new book, ‘It Shouldn’t Happen to a Football Manager’, the former QPR boss admitted his lack of interest in the “director’s world.”
Redknapp, famous for giving interviews through his car window, opined that a manager must be level-headed when dealing with the chairman or the owner, an aspect where he made some mistakes and advices aspiring managers to not follow the same path.

Redknapp writes, “You have to be sensible about how you handle your chairman or owner. That is something I impress upon young managers following my own mistakes. I was never one for trying to push myself into a director’s world.”
The former North London manager then went on to reveal how his rival, Arsene Wenger, is a lot different than he is. The Frenchman is a figure who has earned a lot of respect at the club and is so influential that he never misses a board meeting with the top hierarchy of the Gunners.
“Someone like Arsene Wenger is very different. He goes to all the board meetings at Arsenal and even does a quick walk around the directors’ box at the Emirates before home games.
“I have seen it for myself at some Champions League games and find it amazing that he can be so relaxed,” says Redknapp
Indeed, after two decades at the club, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the French manager has a lot of power at the Emirates. It is for this reason that the board never took the decision to sack him despite being underwhelming ever since the Invincibles era.

However, with Arsenal playing like a mentally strong team this term, it seems as though the board might just get their reward for sticking with the Frenchman despite the constant barrage from many fans to push him out the exit door.
Redknapp also went on to reveal that his post-match ritual was to visit the opponent manager’s office and have a drink before leaving for home.
“Boardrooms did not interest me and, when we played away, after the game I’d go into the manager’s office for a glass of wine or a cup of tea then go home.”
