Arsene Wenger reportedly eyeing big end of season transfer

As the talks about Santi Cazorla being the best buy for Arsenal for this season subside, it’s time for the end of season transfers.

It seems Wenger has turned towards the Bundesliga for its players, and rightly so as the young German players would fit perfectly into the counter-attacking style of Arsenal.

Reports suggest Arsene Wenger is hell-bent on acquiring one of the three – Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund, and Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen, together budgeted at £70m.

But he has competition from Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich and EPL leaders Manchester United for Lewandowski. The £25 million rated man is the leading goal-scorer in the league and Wenger wants him eagerly.

The Polish star, 24, is also wanted by his current club and veteran keeper Roman Weidenfeller said, “Lewandowski is not only technical, he’s also very quick and has a feeling for goals, so whenever there’s a chance he senses it. Every club would be happy to have a player like him.

“The best place for Lewandowski is here in Dortmund and we hope to keep him. He grew to become a big player here and he belongs to this team.”

Mario Gotze, 20, has also been tremendous both for Germany and Dortmund. He has already made a mark in the German squad as a play maker. Lars Bender, Gotze’s compatriot, has also been in fine form for Leverkusen.

Trophy-less for eight years now, could one these make it to the team and change its fortunes? Only time will tell.
