Arsene Wenger unhappy with Premier League's loan rules
Ahead of the clash against Everton, Arsene Wenger has called out to the Premier League to review the rules for loaning a player in the league. The current rules which were framed in 2007 mean that a loaned player cannot play against his parent club.
Wenger feels that the parent club should not be given such an unfair advantage of not having a player play against them.“I am not against loans, but you should be capable of playing against everybody,” said Wenger.
Lukaku has been in scintillating form for the Toffees and proved to be a thorn in the flesh against Manchester United in the midweek clash. He harassed the United’s defence all throughout the game and set up the only goal in the game for Oviedo as Everton won at Old Trafford for the first time since 1992.
Lukaku’s form is clearly benefiting Chelsea in the title race and it seems very possible that Lukaku could help throw the title race wide open this weekend if he continues his brilliant form against the Gunners.
Wenger said,”“There is no reason why, once you have signed for a club, you should not be allowed to play against everybody. There should be no exception.”
But Wenger was clear that, despite the question of fairness in the system, the final result will not be a determined by the system.
“If Lukaku was not playing for Everton, somebody else would be,” he said. “I am not making a fuss of that. I think it is our performance that will dictate the result on Sunday, not only Lukaku.”
Sunday’s game sees Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates stadium at 9.30 PM IST.
Arsenal are top of the league while Everton sit fifth.
