AS Moncao thrashes Tottenham 5-2 in a friendly

Monaco forward Radamel Falcao versus Tottenham Hotspur

A young Tottenham side were mauled 5-2 by AS Monaco in their friendly on Saturday, as new Monaco’s record signing Falcao bagged a brace.

The £52 million Colombian striker netted a brace in the second half as Spurs conceded four goals, having only been 1-0 down at the half-time.

A painful evening for Andre Villas-Boas got worse when Jermain Defoe pulled out after just 10 minutes with a hamstring injury. The England international was replaced by Harry Kane.

The first goal of the match came via an error from Hugo Lloris who fumbled Andrea Raggi’s volley which bounced and then went in at the France captain’s near post.

Five minutes after the interval visitors conceded twice. First, substitute Lucas Ocampos headed home Joao Moutinho’s free-kick and then Falcao netted Ocampos’ cross from the right flank.

Kane then reduced the deficit on 57 minutes, but it did not take long for Falcao produce another goal, restoring a three goal lead. Mounir Obbadi struck Monaco’s fifth goal on 71 minutes to compound the misery for Spurs.

Andros Townsend completed the scoring in this friendly as he found net with an impressive low shot from 20 yards.
