Ashley Cole and Roma part ways by mutual consent
Italian football club AS Roma on Wednesday announced that its contract with the England left-back Ashley Cole has been terminated by mutual consent, making him a free agent.
It is widely reported in Italy that the England left back will venture to the US and continue his career in the Major League Soccer (MLS) together with his compatriots Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, reports Xinhua.
"The 35-year-old English defender joined Roma in July 2014 following spells with Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Chelsea. The club would like to thank Cole for his commitment during his stay in Rome and wish him the very best for his future career," the club said in the statement.
Cole made 16 appearances in his first season with AS Roma. But his performances got worse and he didn't play a game for Roma this season.
It is reported that Ashley Cole would probably join Los Angeles Galaxy and become Gerrard's team-mate.
