Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert hits back at Jose Mourinho's 'moaning' claims
Aston Villa boss, Paul Lambert has denied the claims of Chelsea’s manager, Jose Mourinho, that he was moaning too much and questioning every decision of the referee in Villa’s clash against the Blues at Stamford Bridge, reports DailyStar.
After Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 2-1, Mourinho accused Lambert of pinning too much into every decision of the referee, which was later denied abruptly by the Villa boss as ‘No way, Jose’.
He expressed his feelings to ref’s supremo Mike Riley after he got frustrated with some of referee Kevin Friend’s decisions.
Lambert said in an interview, “I’m not just going to go there and lie back. I’m going to protect Aston Villa – that’s my job.
“I don’t have to be intimidated. It wasn’t a massive 90 minute feud or anything. I’ve got the utmost respect for Jose and spoke to him afterwards. But I’m not going to stand there and let them run the game.”
Big clubs do win crucial decisions, accepts Lambert.
“I played for Celtic so I know all about it,” he said. “We got decisions. It’s human nature.”
