Australia beat Canada in football friendly
London, Oct 16 (IANS) Australia beat Canada 3-0 in their first football match following the sacking of coach Holger Osieck.
Osieck was fired hours after the team’s humiliating 0-6 loss to France in Paris Friday, reports Xinhua.
Aurelio Vidmar became caretaker and led the Socceroos to Tuesday’s win here at the Craven Cottage.
“We were really looking for a strong performance … we asked for the passion, that’s what we got so that’s good,” said Vidmar.
Vidmar said the win over Canada restored a bit of pride in the Socceroos but there was a long way to go.
Football Federation Australia is currently looking for a new national team coach.
