Bacary Sagna ruled out for three weeks due to injury

Bacary Sagna disappointed after having to come off the pitch following an injury against Bulgaria

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has been ruled out for three weeks after he was injured while on international duty. The French national pulled a hamstring during the first half of France's 4-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Bulgaria on Friday.

The proficient right-back was expected to be sidelined for over a month, but scans have revealed the injury is not as bad as first feared, his club has confirmed.

Sagna's injury has given Argentine full-back, Pablo Zabaleta a chance to get back his regular spot under Pep Guardiola, having largely played second fiddle to the Frenchman.

Will miss games against Everton and Barcelona

The French will be unavailable for the game against Everton at the weekend, and will also miss both Champions League matches against Barcelona, as well as the derby clash with city rivals Manchester United in the EFL Cup.

The 33-year-old missed almost a month of football at the start of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in the 5-0 win over Steaua Bucharest in August.

A double from Kevin Gameiro and strikes each from Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann sealed a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bulgaria for Les Bleus. The French also secured a win over Netherlands on Monday, with Paul Pogba scoring the only goal of the match.

Aguero to be fit

There was some good news for Pep Guardiola, with Sergio Aguero being declared fit for Argentina’s encounter with Paraguay. There had been fears of a calf injury which could have kept him out of action, but the former Atletico Madrid forward trashed these rumours, stating he was up and ready for the challenge.

According to 90min, Aguero said, "I’m quite well now, you get physical fitness playing, not training. Bauza has the decision - I’ll be available for Tuesday. I’m much better. After the Peru game, I had two days to make the recovery and I did a little bit of football today. I’m quite well."

Guardiola's golden run of six straight league wins ended with a loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City next faces Everton after the international break, and they will look to recover from their season’s first defeat.
