Reports: Barcelona make first offer for Chelsea superstar
What's the story?
The future of Chelsea star David Luiz has been subject to intense speculation and now latest reports in Telefoot claim that Barcelona have made their first offer for the Brazilian centre-back.
David Luiz has reportedly had a massive falling out with Antonio Conte and is keen on a move away from the Premier League champions in the January transfer window. Real Madrid were said to be favourites, but it seems like their arch-rivals have made the first move.

In case you didn't know...
One of the best ball-playing centre-backs in world football at the moment, David Luiz has been linked with a host of big clubs ever since he fell out of favour with Antonio Conte. Also, the Brazilian has struggled with a knee injury for the entire season and it only looks like a matter of time before Luiz makes his exit from Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona, on the other hand, are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements. With Mascherano set to leave and Vermaelen not really firing on all cylinders, the addition of David Luiz will certainly strengthen the defensive department and provide another quality option to Ernesto Valverde.
The heart of the matter
With the World Cup coming up, Luiz will be keen to get some regular playing time this season. Opportunities at Chelsea seem hard to come by at the moment, especially since Christensen has been in fine form the Premier League champions.
The Blues are said to be holding out for a transfer fee of £35 million and Barcelona are more than capable of coughing up the money. Luiz seems particularly suited to playing at Camp Nou as the Brazilian is extremely skilled on the ball and capable of starting off attacks from the back.

Luiz is certainly one of the most entertaining defenders in the game.
Author's take
The 30-year-old seems perfectly suited to Barcelona's style of play and it will be interesting to see David Luiz strut his stuff in LaLiga. Supremely skilled on the ball and a threat on set pieces as well, Luiz will certainly add something extra to Valverde's dominant Barcelona side.
