Barcelona 0-0 Getafe: Player Ratings
FC Barcelona hosted Getafe at Camp Nou in their bid to extend their unbeaten run this season. The match turned out to be a stale affair as Getafe defended well while Barcelona looked sluggish and visibly tired.
The first half was absolutely unimaginative and boring. neither of the team could breach each other's defences. Both teams combined had zero shots on target.
The second half, in comparison, was quite better. Getafe defended deep and defended well in numbers as Barcelona continued to pile on the pressure on their goal. However, in the end, the scoreline remained intact as the spoils were shared.
Let’s take a look at how the players fared for both the teams.
Barcelona
Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 6/10
He had little to do all night. His only job today was to retain possession and distribute well from the back. However, one moment of indecisiveness might have turned costly had Shibasaki scored.
Sergi Roberto: 6/10
The Catalan was full of energy as he bombarded up and down with pace. He was solid defensively and always available for a pass. However, his end product was quite poor as Barcelona struggled to break Getafe's defence.
Yerry Mina: 8/10
The Columbian international looks to have hit his peak form after a slow start to the season. He was always ready at the back, aware of all the incoming dangers and had his sleeves up to it. He dominated Getafe attackers in the air and was quite solid when put one on one.
Lucas Digne: 7.5/10
Digne had a good game as he dominated and won everything that came his way in the air. He won headers, made blocks and clearances and was a calm head in the heart of the Barcelona's defence.
Jordi Alba: 6.5/10
The Spaniard was a lot quieter today. He did not enjoy the attacking freedom that has been bestowed upon him today as Getafe kept a close eye on him. He did rejuvenate himself in the second half and looked way more dangerous.
Sergio Busquets: 7/10
The Spanish International was influential throughout the game. He broke plays and started attacks from his own half. This was a good commanding display from him in the middle of the park.
Ivan Rakitic: 7/10
The Croat was a willing runner in the midfield. He covered for his fullbacks and then contributed going forward as well. He is a major contributor in this team's success going by his recent performances.
Phillipe Coutinho: 6/10
The young midfielder had a rare average game. Unimaginative in attack and generally lethargic, he struggled to have any say on the game in the first half. However, he looked dangerous in the second half but was subbed in the 62nd minute.
Paco Alcacer: 6.5/10
The Spanish striker was anonymous and looked off-colour throughout the match. He failed to get involved much and was bereft off any ideas when in possession.
Lionel Messi: 7/10
He had a very average game by his standards though he still was better than most of the players on the field. He could not find much joy inside the box as Getafe defended resolutely but was influential whenever he dropped deep.
Luis Suarez: 5.5/10
Luis Suarez did everything right today, he ran the channels, held up play, crossing, everything, except scoring. It was quite a frustrating night for Suarez as well as the Barcelona faithful.
Substitutes
Andres Iniesta: 8/10
Iniesta was introduced into the match in place of Coutinho. He was crafty in possession, kept the ball in tight spaces and brought the much-needed urgency into Barca's game.
Ousmane Dembele: 6.5/10
Brought on for Alcacer, the French youngster brought a spark of creativity and pace in Barcelona's midfield, even though it was for a short span.
Paulinho: N/A
Late substitution; he did not have much time to affect the game.
