Barcelona news: Luis Enrique left frustrated with team's lack of obedience
Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, couldn’t hide his frustration as his side failed to kill the game off before Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, headed in the equaliser. The former Sevilla starlet scored another classic injury time goal, making it his third in the last two years.
And Luis Enrique was left enraged at the fact that his players couldn’t follow his instruction of not giving away fouls near the box.
"The instructions were very clear, do not give away fouls especially if a Madrid player has his back to goal," he was quoted by Marca.
The Clasico wasn’t among the best ones, but it certainly had its moments. While Real Madrid were the better side in the first half, the Catalans took control of the game in the second—especially after Suarez netted in the header to break the deadlock.
And the former Roma boss admits that his side deserved to win simply because of the number of clear cut chances that they had in the game.
"The first half was very balanced with two good teams facing each other, in the second half we took control and created numerous chances," he said. "We deserved to win because of what we created but now we have to improve from here."
After failing to win and cutting the gap of six points to three, the former Barcelona B manager admitted that such a big gap isn’t what he wanted and hoped that his side would improve in order to get close to the League title.
"It is a six point gap, this isn't where we wanted to be, we could have closed this match, we had it in hand but have somehow failed to take the win."
However, not all was drab for the Cules as Andres Iniesta once again showed everyone that he is far from finished. After being brought on in the second half, the World Cup winning midfielder wowed the crowd with his dazzling footwork.
Indeed, he played a superb through pass to Lionel Messi, which the Argentina captain failed to convert. And Enrique was full of praise for his captain, stating that he made the perfect contribution to the game.
"It is clear Iniesta is a different player, his contribution today was perfect, he provided clarity, vision and most of all hard work."
Barcelona still trail their bitter rivals by 6 points and will be hoping that their nemesis drop some points along the way.
