Barcelona target Marc-Andre ter Stegen to decide on his future at the end of the season

Barcelona’s season hasn’t been going according plan at all. But, it looks like they have some good news after all. After FIFA suspended Barcelona’s ban of transfers recently, the news that Borussia Monchengladbach’s keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to decide his future at the end of the Bundesliga season will come as music to the Blaugrana faithful’s ears.

With Victor Valdes leaving at the end of the season, Barcelona have been in search of a No.1 for some time now. Ever since the Spanish shot-stopper announced his decision to leave the club, Marc-Andre ter Stegen had emerged as one of the front runners to take his spot.

After having already revealed that he will not be renewing his contract that expires in 2015, Gladbach have been resigned to losing him, for some time now. Gladbach even previously announced that Ter Stegen will definitely leave and had agreed to join an unnamed club, with many speculating that club was Barcelona.

But, Barcelona’s transfer ban – imposed by FIFA for their dealings in international youth transfers – appeared to scupper any move. But with ban currently suspended, it looks as though the move is on. And the German international has now said that he will end the speculation on his future by announcing his new destination after Gladbach’s trip to Wolfsburg on the final day of the current campaign.

“I control the moment when I announce my new club,” Ter Stegen told Kicker. “I would like to do so at the end of the season.”

Having played in all of Gladbach’s games so far, the German has been one of the best players in his side, which currently occupy sixth spot in the Bundesliga.
