Barcelona to offer Andres Iniesta a new contract
Barcelona ace Andres Iniesta will be offered an extension to his contract, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has confirmed.
The Spanish international, who made his Barcelona debut in 2002, has been ever present for the club since his debut and has been part of teams that have won six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. Critics and fans consider Iniesta to be one of the best midfielders to grace Camp Nou.
The 29-year-old’s current deal expires in 2015, and Barcelona are eager to keep the midfielder at the club after that. Iniesta has confessed that he wants to retire at Barcelona itself.
Rosell announced during an interview with TV3 show hat-trick that an announcement about Iniesta signing a new contract should be expected in the near future.
“Iniesta is a key player for us,” he said.
“It is likely that the next great news for Barcelona will be the renewal of Iniesta’s contract.”
