Barcelona's plans to increase weight of Neymar could prove to be dangerous says Ramalho
Barcelona‘s plans to increase the body weight of Neymar could prove to be dangerous feels Muricy Ramalho, the former coach of the Brazilian star.
The Barcelona doctor Mr.Ricard Pruna, has recommended that Neymar be put on a weight gaining regimen so that he could add on a few pounds. Neymar had been diagnosed with anaemia in the recent past, and it has been felt at Camp Nou that he would need to put on a some weight, to get to his best physical condition.
Ramalho who was Neymar’s coach at his former Club Santos, has a completely different point of view on the weight issue. He is of the opinion that adding weight could have an impact on his long term play and more importantly could lead to injury as was the case with Ronaldo at Barcelona.
“If Neymar puts on weight, they’re going to take away everything that’s best about him,” said Ramalho, as reported by Goal.com.
“They’re going to take away his speed. With small players such as Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta and [Lionel] Messi at Barca, I never imagined that they would do this.
“If he puts on weight he could suffer a knee injury, like what happened to Ronaldo. It’s a dangerous business.” he concluded.
Earlier this week Neymar scored his first goal this season in a game against Thailand, which Barcelona won 7-1.
