Bayern are not rivals, says Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp
Jurgen Klopp has said that Bayern Munich are not considered as rivals by Borussia Dortmund, and went on to add that they were the best in the league.
Being the manager of Dortmund, Klopp’s statement come as something of a surprise as his side recently defeated Bayern 4-2 in the German Super Cup.
These are the two most fancied sides to win this year’s Bundesliga, which has been the case for the past four years now.
“We have always said that if we meet Bayern we want to beat them, but we don’t see them as our rivals,” Klopp said.
“They are the best team in the league. Of course we want to beat them when we can, but the other 16 sides are our real rivals.” reports ESPN.
Klopp did not want to read too much into the Super Cup victory but said that it was a good feeling for the team especially coming two weeks away from the start of the season.
“The cool thing about the Super Cup is that the losers are not too bothered, but the winners are delighted, and we won it,” he said.
