Bayern Munich are interested in getting Jurgen Klopp as their next manager
Bayern Munich have set sights on appointing Jurgen Klopp as their manager after Carlo Ancelotti leaves the club. The German champions have been linked with the Liverpool manager before as well.
Klopp has been enjoying life since taking over Liverpool last October. The charismatic manager has five more years left on his contract at Liverpool and it would be very difficult for the German champions to get him to manage at the Allianz Arena.
A source at Bayern Munich has revealed that Jurgen Klopp is one of the candidates being assessed by Bayern Munich. “Jurgen is very highly thought of there. He will top the list of candidates to be the next coach.” said the unnamed source to the Express.
Ancelotti took over from Pep Guardiola at the start of this season after the former Barcelona manager decided not to renew his contract at Bayern Munich and head to Manchester City. Ancelotti was on a sabbatical after he was sacked by Real Madrid at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Klopp was appointed by Liverpool two months into last season after they sacked Brendan Rodgers. Klopp signed a 6-year contract and has been building a very good team for the future by removing all the dead wood and 'overhyped' players bought by the former Swansea manager during his time at Liverpool.
Bayern have a history of poaching Dortmund stars
Bayern Munich are known for getting exciting prospects from Borussia Dortmund and Klopp being an ex BVB manager, he naturally fits that bill. The German champions have signed Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and Mats Hummels in the last three seasons from their rivals, Dortmund.
There were rumours that Bayern Munich asked Jurgen Klopp to wait until the end of last season before he made a decision as they felt Guardiola might end up leaving. They were reportedly keen on appointing Klopp as their next manager and not Carlo Ancelotti.
It is highly unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti would get sacked any time soon, and is expected to finish his contract at Bayern Munich before making a move. The German champions would also like this to happen as Klopp would be having just two years left on his contract when Ancelotti leaves and it would be 'much easier' to get him then.
Jurgen Klopp is one of the high-profile managers in club football right now and could be targetted by several other clubs like Juventus and Real Madrid as well.
