Arjen Robben tells Arsene Wenger not to complain after losing
Ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich forward Arjen Robben has hit out at Arsene Wenger and claimed he has let himself down after the Frenchman’s latest comments on Robben’s antics.
The Frenchman claimed that Robben dived in the first leg to win a penalty that was missed and also spoke of how the Dutchman dived during Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw in the Allianz Arena.
Robben won a late penalty after Laurent Koscielny knocked him over inside the penalty area but Wenger was disappointed at his theatrics all evening, calling him a ‘good diver’.
Robben was not pleased with his comments, though.
“I always say if you are a big manager then take your loss,” the former Chelsea player said. “If you win be happy, enjoy, but if you lose don’t complain about silly things.
“It was two penalties but I don’t want to defend myself. From a big manager you expect a little bit more.”
Robben appeared to fall over with not much contact all evening and this was perhaps the worst. The referee waved away any penalty claims but, strangely, did not book the Dutchman.
Robben was fouled three times last night, only Oxlade-Chamberlain (5) was fouled more in this week’s Champions League.
