Jerome Boateng handed three match ban

Berlin, February 5 (IANS) Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is banned for three matches following his red card in Tuesday's game against FC Schalke 04. Boateng committed a professional foul against Sidney Sam in the 17th minute of the 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga match Wednesday, reports Xinhua. The German Football Federation (DFB) said Boateng was suspended by its disciplinary tribunal for unsporting behaviour.

A statement on the German Football Association's (DFB) official website read: "The DFB Disciplinary Board have been advised by the DFB's Supervisory Committee to hand FC Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng a ban of three Bundesliga games for unsportsmanlike conduct.”

"Boateng was sent off in the 17th minute by referee Bastian Dankert [Rostock] of Bayern's Bundesliga game against FC Schalke 04 on 3rd February 2015. The club has 24 hours to request a hearing before the DFB disciplinary board."

Boateng is set to miss Bayern's visits to VfB Stuttgart and SC Paderborn 07 and a home match against SV Hamburg. Boateng received his fourth red card in the Bundesliga before being sent off while playing for Bayern last year and with Hamburg in 2009. Boateng has also received two red cards in Champions League – against BATE in December 2012 and at Manchester City in October 2013.
