Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng agrees on contract extension
Berlin, Dec 12 Bayern Munich’s defender Jerome Boateng has signed a new contract binding him to the Bavarians until summer 2018, the club announced on their official homepage.
The 25-year-old German international extended his current contract with the German record champions and Champions League cup holders for three years, reports Xinhua.
“I am very proud and totally delighted. The privilege of signing an extension with such a great club means it’s a very special day for me. I really enjoy working with this team every day,” the central defender told Bayern’s official homepage.
Boateng scored three goals in 66 appearances helping Bayern to seal their title treble last season. Before his spell in Bayern he played for Berlin, Hamburg and Manchester City.
Matthias Sammer, Bayern’s director of sport, added: “The club is very pleased with Jerome. We know how well he’s come on and the contribution he’s made to our success.”
Bayern Munich sit currently atop the standings in the Bundesliga. Besides that they wrapped the round of last 16 in the Champions League, although they lost 3-2 to Manchester City.
