Bayern Munich extend Pierre Emile Hojbjerg's contract, loan him to rivals Augsburg

Hojbjerg has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich this season

Berlin, Jan 9 German football giants Bayern Munich have given youngster Pierre Emile Hojbjerg a three-year contract extension and have also sent him on loan to Bundesliga rival Augsburg for the rest of this season. The 19-year-old midfielder extended his current contract that will keep him with Bayern until June 2018, reports Xinhua.

"The contract extension through 2018 is a clear sign for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg that Bayern will rely on him in future,” Bayern Munich's director of sport Matthias Sammer said on Thursday.

“At the same time, the loan deal with Augsburg until the end of the season is a good solution for him to gain match practice before he returns,"

The Denmark international will reinforce Augsburg after making only 17 first team appearances for Bayern since his arrival in September 2013.

"We are pleased that Pierre had decided in favour of Augsburg,” Augsburg's manager Stefan Reuter told the club's official homepage.

“He is convinced that he can continue to evolve here. With his arrival we do not only increase the quality of our squad but we are also increase our flexibility in the case of an injury,"

"I am sure that Augsburg is the right club for me. I would like to integrate myself as soon as possible to help the team on the pitch," Hojbjerg said.

Augsburg's new midfielder Hojbjerg earned his first call up for Denmark's national team in May 2014 to score one goal in five appearances.
