Javi Martinez: Happy to be a part of the Bavarians

Bayern Munich’s star man, Javi Martinez, has dismissed speculation linking him with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, insisting he is happy at the Bavarian giants.

Martinez joined Bayern in 2012 for a Bundesliga record fee of £31.6m from Spanish outfit Atletic Bilbao and has gone on to become a pivotal player for the reigning European champions.

The Spaniard however, is now reportedly disgruntled with life under Pep Guardiola ever since the former Barcelona man took over last summer. Martinez, who was chosen in Spain’s 30-man preliminary World Cup squad yesterday, is expected to travel in the final 23-man party to Brazil.

Martinez says he is happy at Bayern Munich and he hopes to spend many more years in Germany at his current side.

The 25-year-old Spaniard told reporters: “If Bayern should still count on me I would be happy. I would be very happy to stay here. I’m fine in the city and in the club with my team-mates.

“I hope to continue here for many years. I hope we have better luck next year.”

Arsenal and Manchester City have been constantly linked with a move for Martinez, with Liverpool also keeping tabs on the Spanish international, who can play in defence or in midfield.
