Bayern Munich lift their 25th Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga title with four rounds of games remaining

Berlin, April 27 (IANS): Bayern Munich were handed their third Bundesliga title in a row after Borussia Monchengladbach defeated Wolfsburg 1-0 on Sunday.

Thanks to Max Kruse's late goal, the "Foals" ended any of runners-up Wolfsburg's title chance, and confirmed front-runners Bayern Munich, who already reaped a 1-0 win over Berlin on Saturday, as the 2014-2015 Bundesliga champions with four rounds to go this season, Xinhua reported.

With Monchengladbach's help, the German giants established an unassailable 15-point advantage over Wolfsburg.

Fourth placed Monchengladbach dictated the pace against runner-up Wolfsburg but for all that they lacked in accuracy in front of Wolfsburg's target.

Meanwhile, the visitors were deficient in working out goal scoring chances throughout the game.

It took the "Foals" 90 minutes to find the target when Fabian Johnson set up for Max Kruse, who slotted home the winner from very close range in the dying minutes of the game.

With the last-gasp win, Monchengladbach extend their unbeaten run to 10 games to overtake Leverkusen at the third place, four points off Wolfburg.

Elsewhere, newly promoted and relegation threatened Paderborn squandered a two-goal lead against Bremen. Paderborn staged a courageous first half in which they established a 2-0 lead within two minutes thanks to the goals from Mario Vrancic and Moritz Stoppelkamp.

However, Bremen responded just before the break when Davie Selke's header reduced the arrears to 2-1, and substitute Izet Hajrovic restored parity in the 76th minute.

Things changed from bad to worse for Paderborn when Michael Heinloth was sent off following his second yellow card moments later.

"There should have been only one winner today, namely Paderborn, but we missed to put the game beyond doubt," Paderborn's coach Andre Breitenreiter said.

With the draw, Paderborn slipped to the second last position of the standings while Bremen slumped from the seventh to the ninth place.
