Bayern Munich sign Croatian striker Mandzukic
German giants FC Bayern Munich have signed Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg for an unconfirmed fee of around 13 Million Euros. Mandzukic will sign a four year contract once his medical is done.”We’re pleased we’ve been able to bring in Mario Mandzukic, one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga, who also demonstrated his special goalscoring ability at EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. He’ll make our squad even stronger,” stated FCB Director of Sport Christian Nerlinger.
The 26 year old Mandzukic is seen as competition to German international Mario Gomez with seasoned Claudio Pizarro a third competitor for a position upfront. Bayern Munich signed a striker, who has played two years in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg, with enough international experience that could put some pressure on Mario Gomez.
Mandzukic is Bayern Munich’s sixth confirmed new signing for the 2012/13 campaign. The club had earlier signed goalkeeper Tom Starke, defender Dante, midfielders Xherdan Shaqiri and Mitchell Weiser plus striker Claudio Pizarro.
