Bayern Munich: Thiago Alcântara gets No. 6 jersey

The day after 22 year old Spanish international Thiago Alcântara arrived in Munich, had his medical, signed his contract and then was introduced officially as a new FC Bayern Munich player to the media, before he takes the field for the first-time tomorrow.
“I’d like to warmly welcome him to our midst,” said FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at the gifted Spaniard’s official unveiling. He added, “We’re extremely pleased.”

With Thiago’s signing, Bayern Munich fulfilled the wish of their new coach Pep Guardiola, who only last week had said, “Thiago or no one” when it came to transfers.

At his first press conference in Munich, Thiago said, “There aren’t many coaches in the world with his ability. He was definitely one of the important reasons for me making the move to Munich. On the one hand, there’s the history of the club, which has been one of the best in the world for many years.”

“On top of that, this team plays very attractive football. And I believe the arrival of Pep Guardiola will provide an additional boost.

“We’ve known each other for a long time and he’s a coach who has placed great faith in me. I’m a huge fan of the way he likes football to be played. I have to thank him for everything I have achieved in my career,” Thiago added.

The signing of Thiago Alcântara gives coach Pep Guardiola another option in the already great Bayern midfield, but Thiago will be a player who will directly understand what his coach wants from him, though he will have to learn German quickly to best interact with his new team-mates.
