Bayern Munich’s interest Newcastle’s Remy could open door for Mandzukic to Arsenal
Arsenal have suffered a blow in their pursuit of one transfer target this summer, but it could open the door for another after it emerged in the Daily Express that Bayern Munich are keen on bringing Loic Remy to the Allianz Arena.
Remy is believed to be Arsenal’s top striking target this summer when his loan spell with Newcastle reaches it’s conclusion, with the French forward keen on moving to a bigger club competing in Europe.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp has accepted that Remy will leave the club on a permanent basis this summer and the Gunners were believed to be leading the queue for his signature, but the emergence of Bayern has thrown a spanner in the works.
The Bavarian giants are keen on bringing Remy to Germany in order to provide an understudy to the incoming Robert Lewandowski, but that also frees up another potential target to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Mario Mandzukic is also believed to be a target for Arsene Wenger after becoming disappointed with the decision to bring in Lewandowski, relegating him to back-up for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Croatian striker was hauled off at half-time as Bayern fell to a 4-0 home defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday and has lost the faith of Guardiola to be a long-term solution, leaving Arsenal free to to make a move as Remy comes in to replace him in Germany.
