Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri flirts with possibility of joining Liverpool
Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has declared his interest in playing in the Premier League after hinting at his unhappiness at not playing and Liverpool could make a bid, according to the Metro.
Shaqiri has played second fiddle to Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller since signing for Bayern but was pushed further down the pecking order with the arrival of Mario Gotze last summer.
Shaqiri has been linked with a move, especially to Liverpool, and has now declared his unhappiness at his situation in Germany, and the Reds could make a bid for his services.
The Swiss international is still only young and will head to the World Cup with his country this summer, but his future at Bayern Munich now looks uncertain.
“It’s clear that I cannot continue like this. If nothing changes, I will have to make some changes myself …” Shaqiri told 20 Minuten.
“I want to play in the important games as well and not just in the Bundesliga. I don’t want to go through another year like this.
“I only want to play for a major club. The Champions League is important to me. We will see what happens.
“England would be an option. If I were to leave Bayern, it will be for a foreign club. But it will have to be a club challenging for the title.”
