Juan Bernat of Valencia celebrates after scoring during the La Liga match between Elche FC and Valencia CF at Manuel Martinez Valero on November 24, 2013 in Valencia, Spain.

The German champions have released a press release on their official website confirming the signing of Valencia’s versatile defender Jaun Bernat on a 5 year deal. The transfer fee is reportedly €10 million. Bernat will become the third Spanish in the Bayern squad following Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez.

Bernat, who graduated from the Valencia youth set-up can play as a left back and also as a winger. He, like Jordy Alba, started as a left winger, but has slowly transitioned into a left back. Apart from his pace, his strengths include a strong positional sense and is generally calm with and without the ball at his feet.

Bernat, who has been handed the number 18 shirt at Bayern has quoted to be very excited to be in the same team as Lahm, Neuer, Robben and Ribery and is already looking forward to debut for the German giants.
