Benfica's Ezequiel Garay set to snub Manchester United
Benfica defender, Ezequiel Garay, has been under the radar of Manchester United for more than a year now.
The Argentine has been seen as a prime option to address United’s defensive problems, but he has made his intentions of staying at Benfica very clear.
Benfica were recently crowned as the champions of Portugal and after winning their 33rd league title, it seems that Garay will choose to stay with his former club rather than making a move on to the fresh territories.
“I do not know, we’ll see. My wife and I are here very happy to be here and hopefully many more years,” he stated while speaking to the newspaper A Bola.
“I am very happy, this team is very strong.” he added.
It was believed that Garay was searching for houses in Manchester when he was a priority target for David Moyes last year. But the move did not occur as the United boss backed off in the last moment.
The defender has a release clause of €20 million to his contract.
The possibility of playing in Europe next season looks bleak for United. And now, it seems that they are losing out on their transfer targets too.
