Bengaluru FC ready to continue their rapid progress in Indian football

Bengaluru: With the new I-League season kicking off in less than a month, defending champions Bengaluru FC addressed a press conference at their new home, the Kanteerava stadium to talk about how preparations at the new venue are coming along, in Bengaluru, on Friday.

Among those in attendance at the press conference were the club’s senior management officials including CEO and MD Parth Jindal, Head Coach Ashley Westwood and Assistant Coach Pradhyum Reddy along with captain Sunil Chhetri and marquee player Joshua Walker.

Jindal gave the press a lowdown on the preparation and advancements that the club has overseen since the end of last season. “Work is ongoing at the new stadium with 5,000 bucket seats being installed to swell the count to 10,000. The ground should be ready as soon as the team gets back from the Federation Cup. I would like to thank the director of the Kanteerava stadium and the DYES for all their support without which this would not be possible.”

Jindal also praised the efforts of the club off the pitch and expressed high hopes for the upcoming season. “We have PUMA as our kit sponsors and SAP have joined us as our technological partners for the new mobile application that we are about to launch”.

Along with that, we have also launched our new Official Membership Program which allows the fans to get closer to the club itself. This is going to be a historic season for us since we’re defending the I-League and with the new stadium, we hope it’s going to be a good one,” he added.

Westwood praised the efforts of the team in pre-season and spoke highly of the club’s new signings.

“We have a lot of great opportunities this year as champions. All our new signings have gelled well and have helped strengthen the squad. We’re also going to Asia which was always the goal of the club, to compete at a higher level. There’s no weight of expectation on our shoulders at the moment and the upcoming Federation Cup will be a good run into the I-League season,” said Westwood.

The management also revealed that tickets for the 2014-15 I-League season will go on sale in the coming days and will be available for prices between Rs. 30/- and Rs. 600/-.
