First round result: Bengaluru FC 1- Aizawl FC 2

Bengaluru FC, who finished at the top of the Indian domestic league table, a couple of points ahead of the 2014-15 I-League champions Mohun Bagan are quite determined to turn the tables at their home ground. Having snatched an away goal, the Bengaluru-based football club needs just a single goal to progress to the next round of the coveted Indian cup competition, whereas, a 0-0 draw will be enough for Aizawl FC to knock the defending champions out of this year's Federation Cup.

The Bengaluru FC head coach, Ashley Westwood seems pretty confident to progress to the next round of the Cup competition. “We should have been 4-0 up at Aizawl. We hit the post once, one was cleared off the line, missed a good chance, and we didn’t have a lot of luck with the penalties,” Ashley Westwood said during a pre-match press conference.

The 39-year-old British head coach added, “We are confident of turning it around. We have a good record at home and a completely fit squad to choose from. I'm sure we're going to create chances tomorrow and hopefully we'll take a few.”

When asked about the morale of the side, Ashley Westwood answered, “The lads are alright. Travel does take a toll and we had a twelve-hour journey from door to door. But it's the same for both teams. We have a good squad who can all come into contention.”

Aizawl FC striker, Joel Sunday hopes to re-create his first leg goal against the Bengaluru-based side later today, as well. “Hopefully, we will get a lot of chances tomorrow and move on to the next round,” he told the press.

“By God’s grace, I hope to do it again. I apologise for saying this in Bengaluru, but it will feel great to get a goal in the second leg as well,” the Nigerian added.
