Blackburn Not 'Prestigious' Enough For Mirko Vucinic, Says Agent
Mirko Vucinic’s agent claimed that the Roma hitman deserves a ‘big club’ similar to the Italian giants, and would only move if a club of similar stature made an approach. Vucinic has a contract with Roma till 2013, but the 27 year old has been linked with a move to Turin or the Premier League.
Vucinic has been linked with a move to Venkys owned Blackburn Rovers, but his agent rubbished all speculation and said that Blackburn were not prestigious enough. Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Alessandro Lucci said-
“Blackburn? Mirko deserves clubs that are more prestigious.”
Lucci said things were currently on standby and they were waiting for Roma to give them the go-ahead before commencing any talks with clubs. But he insisted that there was no chance Vucinic would move to Blackburn.
“I have not heard from anyone. For now things are on standby and we have to understand what Roma’s intentions are. Blackburn talk is just a rumour, they are a respectable club, but Mirko deserves a more prestigious side.”
With the move of Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic to Roma very much on the cards, it seems likely that Vucinic will make way. He has also been linked with a move to fellow Italian heavyweights Juventus, who have their attentions focused on Sergio Aguero but the Montenegrin might prove a satisfactory alternative if the Aguero deal falls through.
The agent denied any contact with between Roma and Juventus as well, but he said that the Old Lady would represent a suitable destination for Vucinic, if a move panned out. He asserted that if a big club didn’t come in with an offer, Vucinic would stay on in the capital and continue plying his trade in Roma. He said-
“The two clubs have never spoken. I have met Juventus, but it was for other things. There is no deal. Juventus are a prestigious club like Roma. Vucinic will either remain in the capital or he aims for a team of similar level.”?
Vucinic had an average season last time round, scoring 10 times from 28 appearances as Roma finished a stuttering campaign outside of the Champions League places. A move to Turin might act as a freshener or Vucinic, as he looks to regain his lost form and get back to his heydays. While a Blackburn move seems unlikely, there is a sizable chance that we may get to see Vucinic in the black and white strips of Juve come next season, if Bojan arrives at Roma.
