Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan out for two weeks

Gundogan, pictured above in action for Germany against Paraguay, is likely to miss 2 weeks of Bundesliga action after aggravating a back injury whilst on international duty

Germany international and Borussia Dortmund midfielder, 22-year-old Ilkay Gundogan aggravated a back injury in Germany’s 3-3 draw with Paraguay in the mid-week international friendly and will miss two weeks of Bundesliga action, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

Gundogan’s participation in the friendly was in doubt until the last minute and he required injections before the match. The midfielder opened the scoring for Germany after they found themselves two goals down but had to to substituted with jsut 27 mintes played.

A statement on Dortmund’s website read:

“According to team doctor Markus Braun the problem with his back has now become worse instead of improving.”

Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund host Bundesliga newcomers Eintracht Braunschweig at Westfalenstadion on Sunday.
