Borussia Monchengladbach defender Oscar Wendt sidelined due to injury

Wendt picked up the injury in Gladbach’s 4-0 win over Stuttgart

German football club Borussia Monchengladbach has announced that Oscar Wendt will be sidelined for the time being after suffering a torn hamstring.

After Thursday's examination by club doctor Stefan Hertel, the Sweden international has been diagnosed with torn hamstring and a partial rupture of the tendon. He will, therefore, be out of action "until further notice".

Monchengladbach's defence top performer Wendt sustained the injury in Wednesday's 4-0 victory over Stuttgart at the 24th round of Bundesliga. The defender limped off the pitch and had to be replaced by Martin Hinteregger in the 28th minute.

The 30-year-old left back is rarely injured and played every game since February 2015. "Oscar is basically never injured but it hits every player sooner or later," Monchengladbach head coach Andre Schubert said.

The "Foals", who defended the fourth place on Wednesday, visit Wolfsburg for the 25th round in Bundesliga on Saturday.
