Brasileirao Serie A: Fluminense keep alive Copa Libertadores hopes
Rio de Janeiro - Brazilian soccer giants Fluminense rallied from behind to defeat Goias 2-1 and maintain their hopes of a top-four finish in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Fluminese, reigning champions, were trailing 0-1 at the Serra Dourada stadium when William Matheus netted in the 36th minute to give Goias the lead here Saturday, reports Cinhua.
But Brazilian international midfielder Jean equalised just after the interval and then Rafael Sobis struck the winner five minutes from time.
Fluminense are now sixth in the standings with 33 points from 24 games while Goias are eighth, equal on points but with an inferior goal difference.
The top four teams at the end of the season will play next year’s Copa Liberatdores, South America’s premier club competition.
