3 notable exclusions from Tite's guaranteed players list for the World Cup
Brazil national team manager Tite has announced the list of 15 players of the 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup and there have been some notable exclusions.
The privileged players are Alisson, Dani Alves, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Marcelo, Casemiro, Renato Augusto, Paulinho, Fernandinho, Willian, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Neymar.
Most of his selection was expected, although many would feel that he has left out some names who deserved to be in the first eleven, while Tite normally sticks with players he personally trusts and at times that take precedence over form as well.
It is unclear who the remaining eight players could be, but places are certainly up for grabs in his squad and anybody could make a late push for inclusion if players performed admirably for their team.
Here is the list of 3 plenty more talented Brazilians who will be left sweating in the wake of the informal announcement:
#3 Filipe Luis
Although Real Madrid star Marcelo remains first-choice and ever since Tite’s June 2016 arrival, Ateltico Madrid left back Filipe Luis has been his first reserve.
The 28-year-old has produced some wonderful performances for the Spanish club and has been one of the most consistent full backs in Europe for years. Many would argue that he deserved a place in the squad ahead of Real Madrid left back Marcello.
One of the key players behind Atletico Madrid’s success this season, Filipe Luis has been solid in defence. Filipe Luis was seen to offer less attacking thrust than Marcelo, but greater defensive solidity, apparently making him the perfect choice for Brazil who are often blamed for their leaky defence.
Luis also faces competition from Juventus left back Alex Sandro who is strong, athletic, and having improved defensively since his switch to Turin.
