Brek Shea: America's next Donovan?
6 USA Caps, MLS All-Star and suited by Liverpool and Manchester City, life for young American midfielder Brek Shea is looking great and about to take him places. The American’s agent has said that there is interest from England for the player who is now termed a hot property.
After an impressive showing against Honduras for his national team this weekend, Shea is attracting many top European clubs at the dainty age of 21. A product of the MLS ‘Generation Adidas’ foundation, the 6ft 3 in midfielder has been FC Dallas’ main talisman this season and has tallied an lavish 15 goals from 75 appearances. Shea was deployed as a centre-back at the start of his Dallas career but eventually moved into midfield where his prodigious talent was discovered. He played as a winger in the game versus Honduras and put in an impressive performance, providing the cross for Clint Dempsey’s solitary goal in the match.
Jurgen Klinsmann is credited with finding Shea and giving him his break, employing him as a regular in the revamped Team USA. Klinsmann will be a good facet for Shea to mentor on, especially with the German’s good reputation of moulding players like Schweinsteinger and Podolski for Germany.
Brek Shea also has a fantastic hobby off the football field, being a painter who has sold for five figure numbers in Texas. Texas boy Shea is affiliated with the Dallas Foundation giving all proceeds of his art for a School soccer project.
