Brendan Rodgers: It's too late for anyone to make a bid for Luis Suarez

Brendan Rodgers (L) insists it is too late for any club to make a move for Luis Suarez (R)

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that it is too late for Real Madrid to make a move for forward Luis Suarez, according to a report on Sky Sports.

The Madrid club have apparently stepped up their interest in the player just days after it seemed he was content to remain at Anfield.

Madrid were thought to be the club of Suarez’s choice when he publicly declared after last season that he was looking for a move away from Liverpool, and away from the Premier League.

But Rodgers insists that Liverpool will not sell because there is not enough time left in the transfer window to replace a player of his calibre and importance. Suarez was Liverpool’s top scorer last season.

“It’s very difficult at this time [for a Suarez bid to succeed],” Rodgers said.

“We are trying to get one or two more quality players in through the door. If we lose Luis at this stage, it would be difficult to replace him.

“There might have been a point a few months ago when there was time to do it, but not with only 11 days to go,” he said.
