Brighton and Hove Albion 2-3 Liverpool: Player ratings as Cody Gakpo brace sees Reds through

Liverpool edged past Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round of the EFL Cup with a 3-2 victory away at Amex Stadium. The win sees the holders progress to the next round of the competition and another step closer to retaining their title.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 46th minute through Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman then doubled the lead in the 63rd minute. The Seagulls hit back in the 81st minute through Simon Adingra, but Luis Diaz restored the two-goal advantage four minutes later. Tariq Lamptey scored Brighton's second goal in the 90th minute.
