Bundesliga round-up: Bayern Munich and Leverkusen win narrowly, Schalke shocked
A 13th minute volley from Mario Mandzukic earned Bayern Munich a narrow victory over Eintracht Frankfurt as the Bavarians equaled their club record run of 27 matches unbeaten.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim, who just about avoided relegation last year, thrashed Hamburg SV 5-1 with 4 second half goals, while Frenchman Anthony Modeste grabbed a brace.
Luiz Gustavo made his debut for VfL Wolfsburg following his move from Bayern Munich, shocking Schalke 04 with a 4-0 victory, including a 12 minute spell which produced 3 goals for Die Wolfe.
Schalke’s Dutch striker Klaas Jan-Huntelaar struck the post with a low drive in the first but Wolfsburg scored 4 in the second half, with Robin Knoche scoring a tap-in, and Vieirinha showing strength to hold off two defenders and slot past the keeper. Defender Naldo then scored the third in the 67th minute before Stefan Kutschke rounded off the scoring as the final whistle blew.
Bayer Leverkusen claimed 3 points at Stuttgart with a 1-0 win as former Leverkusen player Daniel Schwaab endured the misfortune of scoring an own goal.
