Cabaye and Cisse determined to stay at Newcastle
Midfielder Yohan Cabaye and striker Papiss Cisse have affirmed their stay with the Magpies despite strong interest from clubs across Europe.
25-year-old Cabaye has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford but the French international is willing to stay and play in the Europa League following a great debut season at the Sports Direct Arena. Currently on international duty to represent France at the Euros, he told France Football:
There are rumours. I am following it a little. But I have four years remaining on my contract with Newcastle. Today I don’t want to know anything. That is what agents are for.
At Newcastle we will play in the Europa League. The atmosphere is already huge at St James Park with us in the Premier League and it seems stronger now we’re in Europe.
Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse, who celebrated his 27th birthday a couple of days back, has vowed to stay. Newcastle’s January buy earlier this season is targeting a Champions League place for the Magpies. The prolific poacher scored 13 goals in the 14 games he appeared for the club since joining from Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. He told SkySports:
And so are we all, Papiss!
