Canada vs Uruguay Head-to-Head stats and numbers you need to know before Match 31 of the 2024 Copa America

Canada and Uruguay meet at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday to decide the third place of the 2024 Copa America. Both sides fell in the semi-final round of the competition as their title hopes were ended, but they can still claim a bronze medal with a win this weekend, a day before the finals.

Playing in the Copa America for the first time in their history, the Maple Leaves can be proud of their run. They progressed from a group that included Argentina and Chile, and defeated Venezuela in the quarter-finals. In the last four, Lionel Messi and co. came up against them once again and dealt them another 2-0 loss, as they did in their campaign opener.

Nonetheless, it must have been a valuable learning for a side that is all set to jointly host the next edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

As for Uruguay, the 2011 champions won all three of their group stage games to canter into the knockout stages, where they saw off heavyweights Brazil on penalties in the last eight, before the unbeaten Colombia inflicted a 1-0 loss upon them. But this was still their best finish in the Copa America since winning the trophy 13 years ago.

Canada vs Uruguay Head-To-Head Stats

Canada and Uruguay have met only twice in history, with the Celeste winning on both occasions. Their first-ever clash was way back in February 1986, when Uruguay won 3-1 in the Miami Cup. In 2022, the sides met again, with Canada going down 2-0 in a friendly encounter.
