Carabao Cup 2017/18: Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea, Player Ratings
Arsenal are into the finals of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2011 beating Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates.
With key injuries to Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata, Chelsea looked a little light but only as light as Arsenal who were missing Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott losing both to transfers this month.
With the opening twelve minutes giving us two goals, Granit Xhaka's winner in the second half see Arsenal visit Wembley again next month. Here's how the players fared:
Arsenal
David Ospina - 6.5/10
As has been the case this season, Ospina replaced Petr Cech as the cup keeper for Arsenal and even though he didn't keep a clean sheet, he didn't have much to do either.
Nacho Monreal - 7/10
In such a rich vein of form, Monreal had another stormer of a game with four interceptions, three clearances and three successful tackles. He was also unlucky not to get the goal thanks to the pinball nature of the trajectory.
Shkodran Mustafi - 7.5/10
Kept clipping at Eden Hazard's heels all evening and was lucky to get away from being booked but as usual, put his heart on the line and gave it his all.
Laurent Koscielny - 7.5/10
He may be getting old but he's still capable of producing truly solid displays as he showed today. Continues to be the leader at the back this side need.
Hector Bellerin - 7/10
Spent most of his time in the second-third of the pitch given he had the space to do so and when he had the opportunity to get in on the action, he did without batting an eye.
Granit Xhaka - 7.5/10
Took his goal really well and really seemed to get into the game with the confidence from it. His passing is still erratic at times.
Mohamed Elneny - 7/10
Had a much better second half than the first as he was pushed into the backline. Kept Hazard quite then onwards and really shone.
Jack Wilshere - 7.5/10
A 93% pass accuracy rate from tonight will do Jack a world of good. He's been a consistent player ever since Aaron Ramsey was injured and has done well to earn a first-team slot and, hopefully, a new contract.
Alex Iwobi - 6.5/10
Is he devoid of confidence or is the system letting him down? Alex Iwobi started his Arsenal career so brightly but has since faded. Should've really scored a potential Arsenal third from a lovely Mesut Ozil cutback.
Mesut Ozil - 8/10
This is his club now. Mesut Ozil showed yet again why he's indispensable to Arsenal unlike other adversaries and put in another good shift today to ensure his side went through to the finals.
Alexander Lacazette - 7/10
Lacked decent service all day and made good runs only to be flagged offside almost every single time. His close control is excellent and looked tired as he walked off being substituted.
Substitutes
Sead Kolasinac - 6.5/10
Came on to shore up the backline while also playing ahead of Monreal. Played only six minutes and did what he came on to do.
Aaron Ramsey - 6.5/10
Great to see him back on the field but much like his Bosnian colleague, the time he had on the field hardly could get into the game.
