Carlo Ancelotti reveals the message Pep Guardiola left him
Carlo Ancelotti appreciated former Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola’s efforts after the Catalan left a warm note wishing the Italian luck in his new job as the newly appointed head coach of the Bavarians. Ancelotti was unveiled as the new Bayern Munich head coach on Monday, with a huge presentation and press conference taking place at the Allianz Arena afterward. In the interview, the gaffer revealed that Guardiola had left a message in Italian in the form of a brief note framed on the wall which Ancelotti insisted was a very kind gesture from the predecessor.
Guardiola has joined Manchester City for the 2016-17 season, with the former Real Madrid boss replacing him after taking a year of sabbatical. Ancelotti insisted that the pair shared an excellent relation and quoted the message on the wall to be:"Good Luck! He wrote it in Italian and capital letters on the wall. That was very pleasant, we have a good relationship."
Ancelotti seemed in a jovial mood and revealed his excitement at the arrival at the German club and also discussed his goals and expectations among other things. The Italian also discussed playmaker Mario Gotze, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena, as well as new teenage signing Renato Sanches.
Ancelotti said: "I had a private chat with Gotze. I told him my opinion and he told me his. He knows also Bayern's opinion.
I monitored several young players in the last months - one of them was Renato Sanches. When I talked to Bayern about him they already had all the information about him. We both absolutely agreed, that this is exactly the player we would need."
He also acknowledged his intent of making the club competitive in the Bundesliga, the cup, and the Champions League and also revealed that he was really happy with the squad at his disposal.
The Italian also said that he was eager to start working on his new project:”Of course, we want to play good football, fancy football, for our supporters to enjoy.
The Italian will face the pressure of heavy expectations after the departure of Pep Guardiola, who won three Bundesliga titles in a row during his time as the head coach, but he seemed fairly confident of carrying on the German giant’s recent success.
Ancelotti's kicks-off his Bayern campaign with a friendly against Lippstadt on July 16, before they meet Guardiola's City in Munich on July 20.
