Carlo Ancelotti will employ Pep Guardiola's tactics at Bayern Munich

Ancelotti faced Guardiola's Bayern Munich in the 2014 Champions League semi final

Incoming Bayern Munich head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said he will respect the legacy of current trainer Pep Guardiola, after the latter leaves the Bavarian football club, and indicated that he will maintain the Spaniard's ball possession tactics.

In quotes taken from Ancelotti's book 'Quiet Leadership' and published by German weekly news magazine Stern, the Italian coach says he does not pay much attention to this issue, but he will be careful not to destabilise a playing style that has achieved success, reports Efe.

Ancelotti said he accepts this new challenge with enthusiasm.

The former coach of Real Madrid will guide the Bavarian club next football season, while Guardiola will coach Manchester City after his last game with Bayern against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday.

Ancelotti is aware that his accumulated titles, including two Champions League titles with AC Milan and Real Madrid, will give him some support, but believes the key to leadership also depends on other factors.

He explained that strength lies in building trust, persuasiveness and taking the job professionally, while he emphasised the necessity of respecting others.
