Carlos Bacca's mother reacts to Neymar's behaviour against Colombia

Neymar has been banned for 4 matches by the disciplinary committee for attempting to headbutt Jeison Murillo after the final whistle was blown in their 1-0 loss to Colombia. Moreover, the Barcelona man seems to have abused the match referee in the tunnel later.

However, in the immediate aftermath of Neymar’s attempted headbutt, Colombian striker Carlos Bacca was among the most aggressive to react and pushed Neymar to the ground as the red mist descended on him. He too was sent off for his actions.

The Brazilian has come under criticism for his behaviour from several quarters. Bacca’s mother is the latest to comment on the issue.

She said: “I felt anger and helplessness; I wanted to be there to push him [Bacca] away so they couldn’t hit him because it could have been serious.”

Apart from her own son’s safety on the pitch, she also commented on Neymar’s behaviour.

“But if I’d have been in the stadium I would have taken off my high heel and hit Neymar; I know many women in the stadium would have joined me,” she said.

But the Brazilian wasn’t the only one she criticised, Bacca wasn’t spared either.

She added: “I didn’t teach him things like that … I was really annoyed because I’ve never seen this attitude of Carlos in the game before and so I sent him a message telling him off because he didn’t need to react that way.”

Bacca will miss two games for his red card as well.

With all countries tied on three points in Group C, Brazil are going to take on Venezuela and Colombia will face Peru in the final group fixtures.
