Clubs on high alert as Tevez's future at City remains unclear
Carlos Tevez’s future with the Citizens remains unclear as the Argentine is still waiting for a contract offer.
Tevez joined City four years back from Manchester United and was offered a wage of £250,000 a week. However, it is unlikely that City will offer the 29-year-old a similar wage now, as they prepare to off-load the troubled star.
Manchester City are willing to listen to offers for the £25m-rated Tevez. With just 12 months remaining on his contract, City would want to cash in on the player rather than giving him away for free.
After his fall out with former manager Roberto Mancini, Tevez rarely featured during the 2011/12 season and rumours of him leaving the club surfaced. Tevez, however, claims to be happy at Manchester. He said: “I have a year left and I will respect that . I’ll think about whether to sign a new one. It’s not the same as last season when I wanted to leave as soon as possible . I’m going through a different time. The club is treating me really well and that’s so important for me.”
Should Tevez decide to leave City, it wouldn’t be hard for him to find a new club. Big clubs across Europe would be happy to acquire his services with teams like Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco considered to be the interested buyers.
“There was interest from PSG for me, and we talked with Leonardo [the director of football], but we could not reach an agreement,” he said last week. “But it remains an interesting option as the French championship is moving very fast. If Leonardo called me, it’s not a problem for me to come, really no problem to come to Paris and France.
“For me, Monaco is one of the largest French clubs, and any player would go there. I have a one-year contract left at City and I am happy, and I love playing in the Premier League – but a project like Monaco I really like. I know [Claudio] Ranieri [head coach] and he has proven he is a great coach so for me this would be great.”
