Carlos Valderrama: Players need sex to relax at World Cup
Colombian football great Carlos Valderrama believes that a tournament like the World Cup could be stressful for the players when the whole world is watching and depending on them.
"If we had sex, sex at the World Cup, we would have been better," <Valderrama told El Tiempo. "We would have relaxed after games, especially after losses. That's total relaxation.
"Of course it's better to have sex during the World Cup. You should not be doing ‘the Tequendama Falls' or ‘roller coaster' or any weird pose," he added."It should be quiet, coolly, without inventing crazy poses."
Valderrama, who is Colombia’s most capped player had played a huge role during the golden era of Colombian football, and was also included in the FIFA “greatest living footballers” list of 100 players compiled by Pelé.
Mexican national team head coach Miguel Herrera has banned his players from eating red meat and having sex during the World Cup.
“If a player can't go one month or 20 days without having sexual relations, then they are not prepared to be a professional player,” he said. “So then we will not be looking for sex or having sex at the World Cup just to have it. We are going to go after what we came for, a competition that gives us the opportunity to rise above and do something really great.”
