Cash-rich PSG to tease United with £40 million Rooney bid - reports

According to various sources, PSG have shifted their interest to Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, and are looking to tempt, tease and haul the player to Ligue 1 with a whopping £40 million bait.

PSG have intentions of bridging a dream partnership between Rooney, who turns 28 in October, and current PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Rooney’s contract at Old Trafford shortens to the final two years this summer. This gives United two options:

1. Add more meat to the top earner’s wages.
2. Sell off one of their best players, with the hope of securing better alternatives.

Shadowed by Robin van Persie’s goal exploits, the English footballer was benched for the game against QPR, and Red Devils’ boss Sir Alex Ferguson reached for Danny Welbeck when van Persie ‘limped off’ in the first half.

Despite having heavily spent on Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore among others, PSG have also been linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, but bagging Wayne Rooney seems more realistic of the two.
