Cavani and Lewandowski on Manchester City radar

Manchester City want a new £75 million-worth pairing up-front in the Premier League next season – Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski.

City want the man-of-the-moment Lewandowski, who scored four times for Borussia Dortmund last week against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League. They are also sure of winning a £50 million battle with PSG for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani. And they want to keep hold of Sergio Aguero too!

The capture of this pair will be a strong response to the loss of their Premier League title. Manager Roberto Mancini also feels he has an upper hand in choosing Lewandowski because Dortmund want City’s Edin Dzeko as his replacement.

Lewandowski has only a year left with Dortmund, and they are unlikely to bank more than £25m. Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also targeting the striker but now City are deciding whether to make it a three-way fight.

Sir Alex Ferguson said earlier in the week, “Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don’t think they will sell Lewandowski to Bayern Munich. I think they will let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else.”

At the same time, a City source told the Daily Star Sunday, “Cavani is a done deal.”
